The Tab-Lab was inaugurated in the presence of Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi his wife Mrs. Sumedha Kailash with Snehal Dhawan, 17-year-old activist who successfully raised funds to setup tab library for rescued children.

Snehal started her journey to join the fight against child labor in June 2015 when she started volunteering with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation. Snehal visits Bal Ashram time-to-time to spend time with the children.

Snehal talks about her campaign “In my volunteering journey with the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, the setting up of the crowd-funding venture “TabLab”, to digitise the education of the underprivileged children, has been the most satisfying. I raised the funds this summer and at the launch of the TabLab in Bal Ashram where the children were grabbing the Tabs with a glint in their eyes was a touching moment.”

She further added that “Technology can enhance learning abilities of children; every school must have a TabLab”.

Mr. Shashank Pandey, the President and Co-Founder of ConveGenius also spoke about the gamification of learning in the Tab-Lab, and how it could possibly groom the rescued children in a stress-free, fearless environment. “We truly believe in the greatness that each child holds within, and are focused on providing an enabling environment through recreational learning that helps them to overcome their traumatic past.” he shares.

Quote – “This is a very forthcoming move by a young girl with a compassionate heart. Technology works as a great enabler for learning outcomes. However, support in terms of training for  effective utilization of these tablets would be very helpful for children and teaching staff of Bal Ashram” said Sumedha Kailash, Management Trustee of Bal Ashram.

It’s important for the world to see these children as survivors and not as victims and hence crucial for us to enlighten people with such initiatives.

Bal Ashram was established in 1998 as the rehabilitation and training center of Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) catering for the special needs of victims of child labour. It provides rescued children with the compassion, education and vocational training they so desperately need. It helps them to become confident and skilled enough to overcome their past and lead dignified lives. Bal Ashram is a long term rehabilitation Centre that aims to transform children who have seen the worst, so that they become agents of change against child exploitation and abuse and can be connected with the mainstream society.

Mr. Kailash Satyarthi is an internationally acclaimed child rights activist and Nobel Peace Laureate 2014. He founded Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) to rescue children and their families from the shackles of slavery paving way for their reintegration into mainstream society and has rescued over 87,000 children from the scourge of bondage, trafficking and exploitative labour till date. In 1998, Mr. Satyarthi conceived and led the largest civil society network for the most exploited children- the Global March against Child Labour that traversed across 103 countries covering 80,000 Kms, mobilizing unions, civil society and most importantly, children with a sole demand for an ILO Convention on Worst Forms of Child Labour which led to the adoption of the convention went on to become the fastest ratified convention in the history of ILO. Mr. Satyarthi has launched the 100 Million for 100 Million Campaign in December 2016. This campaign is a global intervention to mobilize 100 million youth for shaping a better and promising future for 100 million not so privileged children. To realize his vision of ending violence against children, he founded Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation to work towards a child-friendly world where all children are free, safe, healthy and educated.]
