The Life at Bal Ashram
The Pink City of India, Jaipur, with remarkable monuments, eateries, and markets is a destination for many but little does anyone know of this petite home- ‘Bal Ashram’ for the Bachpan Bachao Andolan’s rescued children, near it. Bal Ashram is 60 km away from Jaipur and is a rehabilitation center for children who have been exploited in their past and rescued under the Bachpan Bachao Andolan led by the Nobel Peace Laureate, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi.
The life in Bal Ashram is not only plain sailing but safe and admirable. Along with rehabilitating, children are endowed with a brand new perspective of their lives. The children brought here are taught to lead a good, fearless, and respectable life. They not only impart education but are taught basic life skills too.

Our recent partnership with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation is indeed a very special one! Our association with Bal Ashram goes back to our first meeting with Snehal Dhawan, a young and passionate social activist who has been working for the children of Bal Ashram since 2015. Her passion towards raising awareness in the community helped her crowdfund the entire amount! ConveGenius has been a part of her journey since the beginning. This Tab-lab has been built by the money raised by the 17-year-old Snehal Dhawan through a crowdfunding campaign run across social media platforms. It is simply applaudable.
Why a Tab-Lab?
Raising funds for a tab-lab is not only difficult but also challenging. Associating tablet with a luxury is how people think it is! But why crowdfund for a tablet? is the question. Snehal had a simple goal to help improve the lives of children by instilling the right life skills. It is imperative but expanding their horizon and connecting them to the outer world is always beneficial. By introducing a novel way of learning, both interest and outcomes are positively affected.
How can Tablet Learning be an enabling tool for the children of Bal Ashram?
Children’s mind is innately curious and absorbs everything around. The child starts implementing his learnings even before you notice it. The fact that the children at Bal Ashram are more sensitive than other kids is indispensable, hence extra attention is important. Through the medium of a tablet, children will be able to understand in the way that suits them the best.
Accelerating their brain activity- Technology has this magic to probe into a child’s mind by through the interactive usage of visuals and audios. This fusion is helpful in influencing the child’s learnings. Content in the tablets is NCERT mapped and will be used to reinforce concepts to the kids. Once the child is taught by the teacher, he/she can go through the same chapter/concept in the learning tablet and strengthen learnings.
Removing distractions from the path- Technology for many is the modern man’s luxury. When children hold a digital device in their hand they automatically develop a likeness akin to the very interesting nature of its being. Through advanced learning tools, children get the motivation to perform better as they feel they are incentivized through a tool such as this. The impact gadgets have on their brains.
Preparing children for their future careers- Digital literacy has now become a necessity for the young generation as it has immense potential to create livelihood opportunities. The biggest achievement in the lives of these children is to feed themselves and their families. Is there a bigger happiness than this?
Through digital medium children gain the right expertise required to get the jobs in the future. By using a tablet in the classroom, they are not only gaining the above-listed benefits but also becoming tech savvy- a necessity for the 21st-century kid.
Don’t we all look forward to something new every day, to living a better life every day, to be safe, and to be loved! So does each child irrespective of the socioeconomic reasons holding him/her behind! Before making them campion academia, it is important that we empower these children with a life they enjoy and this is just what Kailash Satyarthi Children Foundation is doing. 🙂
